Calico gardens February meeting

Calico Gardens... Angie Burt

For our February meeting, we enjoyed a workshop with Angie Burt, making Calico Gardens.

First, we were inspired by Angie's own work,

and then we were expertly taken through the various techniques used to produce our pictures.  Angie is generous with her time and advice,  and made the various steps look very easy.......

We had a lovely, relaxed day, and learned lots of new techniques, taking work home to complete.................

Painting on Velvet January meeting.

Painting on Velvet

We were delighted to be back in the Friends' Meeting House in Keswick for the first meeting of 2017, after the awful flood damage they suffered last year.

Keswick member Enid McIntosh had prepared a lovely workshop for us, showing us how to paint on velvet. She brought beautiful samples of her own work, and then led us through the stages of producing these vibrant designs for ourselves.

Though straightforward for us, Enid had prepared the procion dyes in advance, so that we only had to choose our colours and our designs ...... and paint! A lot of work, which made the day very exciting and productive for us.

Everyone took home gloriously coloured fabrics, ready for the next step!

An excellent workshop...... thank you Enid. More, please!
